MacMozy is my new best Friend, besides Sim who's still my main new best friend.

Thanks to a wonderful commenter I caught wind of a mac beta over at Mozy. I looked and only saw the signed up to be notified link. I did that, but being of almost no patience I fired off an email to the support team too. :) They responded, with a link to MacMozy.

I'm doing my initial back up right now, but so far, I'm in seventh heavan!! Not the cheezy churchy life drama TV show either. The real one, where everyone uses Macs, drives german automobiles and and diet coke runs like rivers from mountains of cadberry cream eggs.

Yeah I like that much and it's only 0.7% backed up :) I signed up for a year of unlimited space $4.95 a month. Carbonite (darn you guys!!) was $9.95. I think Mozy should raise their price. Once my year is up, I'd glady pay 5 bones more per month.

So far the client works great. I set it up, picked my own encryption key. I don't really care but since the option was there I couldn't pass it up. I selected a few of their prebuild back up sets, think iBackup from DotMac, and then selected my individual files and folders. You can even modify their stock back up sets, which I had to do since my iTunes is on another internal drive.

The only weird thing so far is the UI of the back up status screen. 1 it's not an "app" that you can open Apple-Tab to, but that's fine. The display isn't super intuitive, there's two status bars, neither moves very fast, and I know that the bottom one is the actual "sending shit to Mozy" status, what's the top one?

Otherwise, 3 hours into my usage of MacMozy, and I'm sold.

Yes. Leopard will have Time Machine. Does anyone know how it works? not many, all we know is what Apple has said which ain't much. Plus I like offsite storage, not store to the external HDD on the same desk as my MBP. Time Machine may rock, I'll find out whenever Apple ships Leopard, which is when? That's right, we don't know.
